About Angelika Hallmann

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor/therapist based in Aberdeen, Scotland, and am a registered member of the BACP.

I have a Post Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and, in addition, am currently completing a Masters research project (both University of Aberdeen).

My background is in Teaching and Health & Social Care. Over the years I have lectured at college; advocated for young people in care; led/supervised workshops and managed care homes for learning disabled and autistic adults; worked as a family practitioner supporting children and their families facing diverse difficulties, and have had opportunity to do couple conflict-resolution/mediation work.

As a professional and in my various voluntary capacities my focus has always been on the individual person. I am accepting and open-minded and provide a safe space to talk. I listen carefully to be able to understand and empathise and really see what things look and feel like for him or her. This allows me to support each person in addressing and overcoming things that are hard or seem impossible to tackle and find a way forward in their own process, one step at a time. Being and working with people in this way has eventually led me to pursue formal training as a Person-Centred Counsellor/Psychotherapist.

My experience as a counsellor/therapist includes working with:

  • Bereavement and loss

  • Terminal illness

  • Disabilities, including learning disabilities

  • Attachment and relationships

  • Separation and divorce

  • Domestic violence

  • Abuse

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Low sense of self-worth

  • Stress

  • Mild to moderate depression and anxiety

  • Bullying

  • Feelings of anger, shame and guilt

  • Addictions

  • Issues with trust and faith

  • Communication and conflict-resolution

  • and anything else clients may bring

I am a convert to the Church and was baptised when I was 17 years old. Throughout my life I have experienced many difficult circumstances. Working through those I have learned to put faith and trust in my Saviour and my Heavenly Father. Since becoming a member of the Church I have served as ministering sister and ward missionary (including a short-time mission in London); as counsellor and teacher in Relief Society, Young Women and Primary; and as Gospel Principle and Gospel Doctrine teacher. I also love to go to the temple.

I offer sessions for adults and youth, individuals and couples face to face, online (via Skype) or by telephone, in English as well as in German.
