About Matt Sneddon

Edinburgh Based qualified Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist. Registered BACP member and ASIST trained.

Working from a Person Centred approach I am able to support and empower you first in better understanding the issues you face, and then to be able to work through your own process to enable you to act in a positive way to move forwards from those issues. With this in mind I believe that there is a way forward for everyone
I have 20 years experience working with all age groups covering a wide range of personal and relationship issues. I spent 2 years working in a health care environment with a focus on depression and anxiety.
Most recently I have spent the past 2 years working with trauma and individuals experiencing strong suicidal thoughts and feel comfortable in this role. Additionally I am ASIST trained and feel able to integrate this easily from a person centred ethos.
I have experience working with all age groups and genders, including those transitioning. I feel comfortable and happy to work with any ethnic, religious or cultural backgrounds and as a Person Centred Counsellor and Psychotherapist my job is to meet you where you are rather than to impose any ethos or framework on you.
It is very important to me to maintain good ethical practice and as such am very happy to part of the BACP as I believe that their guidelines and framework  offers peace of mind to both Client and Counsellor.

Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy and as a registered member of the BACP I abide by their ethical framework and standards.
I also hold the COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate and am ASIST trained.
