About Barbara Norton

I am an LDS therapist who has worked privately and within the NHS for 20 years gaining valuable experience, and knowledge working with individuals and couples.
I work with couples and individuals who are struggling with mental health challenges, (Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Low self worth), relationship difficulties or who just want to understand how they can make their life better. My work integrates Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Systemic and Solution Focused Therapies, helping the individual develop simple steps for inner resilience and lasting change. Before undertaking therapy, it is important to feel safe and in control of the process, in a non-judgemental and confidential environment.

Within your therapy appointments, I will integrate several theories, CBT, Systemic and Solution Focused Therapy. This enables you to understand your difficulties from several different perspectives. Using a flexible approach gives you the knowledge to be autonomous and create change both cognitively and behaviourally, to improve your quality of life and relationships.

A systemic approach helps you to understand your work, family, and the dynamics within intimate relationships. I utilise this approach to help individuals and couples understand the complexities within their relationships, when there is relationship conflict or betrayal.

A cognitive behavioural approach helps you to identify the link between your thoughts, behaviour and mood which is beneficial to overcoming stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, and relationship difficulties.
